Our Story

History & Overview

Ohawu Agricultural College (OAC) was established in 1964 by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture to run programs and courses that develop middle level manpower for the agricultural sector. It is the only accredited diploma awarding agricultural college in the Volta Region of Ghana. Through institutional affiliation with the University of Cape Coast, the college runs a 3 year Diploma in General Agriculture, alongside a 2 year Certificate in General Agriculture under the Ministry of Food and Agriculture.

Welcome to Ohawu Agricultural College

Ohawu Agricultural College is a public tertiary institution dedicated to training skilled agricultural professionals for Ghana's food and agribusiness sectors. Located in Ohawu in the Volta Region, the college provides hands-on, practice-oriented education that links classroom learning with field experience.

Established to support national agricultural transformation, the college operates under the Ministry of Food and Agriculture and follows standards set by Ghana's agricultural training and accreditation bodies. It emphasizes productivity, sustainability, and responsible stewardship of natural resources.

Through programmes in crop and animal production, farm management, agricultural engineering support, and agribusiness, the college equips learners with technical, entrepreneurial, and leadership skills grounded in its guiding motto.

Greenhouse Technology

Agritop

OAC collaborated with Agritop to run a course in Greenhouse Technology at the Greenhouse Capacity Building and Training Center (GCBTC) at Dawhenya. This course equips our graduates with skills in the production of vegetables using greenhouses suitable for the tropical environment of Ghana.

Israel

AgroStudies

The success of the Greenhouse Vegetable Production Technology partnership with Agritop led to our collaboration with AgroStudies of Israel.
